Oy Oy Oysters

New places, new foods, new experiences is on the list when you travel.


I like my comfort zone, so when new foods that I do not nor would not usually have are definitely in the "out of my comfort zone".

Let's start with Crawfish. Those little beady-eyed crawly things were my first "out of my comfort zone" feat. As long as David agreed to remove the heads and peel them and be the guinea pig, I will try one. It had the same texture as shrimp so I'm good with those.


Next let's add in the Alligator, catfish and oysters. Alligator was deep fried and like everyone says....it tasted like chicken. Catfish...not my fav but I am 3 for 3.


Now comes the oyster. Yup you guessed it, he got me to try it. I have tried escargot and we will just say for me it was a one and done deal, which was the same for the oyster. I did have it Rockefeller style so it was baked with spinach and parmesan cheese which helped but that texture was not for me.


So that great local recommendation turned out good for David as he realized he really really likes oysters. So kudos to Bacchus on the Beach restaurant in Pass Christian Mississippi for a job well done!
